Miura

The label for Miura was developed around the idea of a single, continuous line. This uninterrupted gesture encircles the bottle like a visual signature, embodying the performative act of winemaking itself.
The line functions as a metaphor: it conveys fluidity, intentionality, and presence, while simultaneously evoking imperfection, impermanence, and continuity. In this way, the graphic design mirrors the tension between human mastery and the natural limits of viticulture.

Quinta de Tourais

Quinta de Tourais, the winery behind Miura, integrates the artistic field directly into its visual identity by inviting artists from around the world to create its labels. This gesture goes beyond aesthetic or commercial strategy: it positions the winery within a cultural dialogue, as each bottle becomes a medium for artistic experimentation.
Among the invited artists are renowned figures such as Carsten Nicolai and Pedro Tudela, who have contributed visual works to the label series. This openness highlights the winery’s intention to treat wine as an expanded cultural experience. In this sense, Miura establishes a discourse that brings together the tradition of winemaking and the field of contemporary art, serving as an example of how viticulture can incorporate artistic content as part of its identity narrative.

Design Approach

The video documents the act of drawing the continuous line — a performance of focus and silence.
Rooted in the discipline of Chinese painting, the gesture follows breath and intention, infolding without correction. Its imperfections remain visible, embodying presence, acceptance, and the inevitability of continuation.
